Happy NSD & a new layout!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day - weekend!  The big day is actually tomorrow - - but the festivities begin now, lol!     Wish I could be taking part in all the fun challenges happening around the web this weekend but family duties call.

I'll leave you with some scrappy inspiration in the form of a new 2 page layout.   Used a fantastic sketch from an Sketches for Scrapbooking Volume 8.    I played along with the Scrap Your Stash Patterned Paper Party challenge which is to use 3 or more different patterned papers from 3 or more different collections.   My layout has 7 different patterned papers from 3 different CTMH collections.   Woohoo! Love using up that stash!

When I first created the layout for the challenge, I had missed the added requirement to use rub-ons, so after taking my initial photos above, I added three little rub-on sentiments to my layout so that I could play along, lol!   Sorry for the photo - - terrible lighting!:

Materials Used:
CTMH paper packs:  Splendour, Footloose, Elemental (retired)
CTMH Footloose dimensional chipboard elements
CTMH stamp sets:  Charm Uppercase & Tiny Typewriter
CTMH Rub-Ons
Cardstock: CTMH White Daisy
Ink: CTMH Lagoon, Sweet Leaf & New England Ivy

Have a great weekend!

Publication!!

Had to share!! The Summer 2012 issue of Canadian Scrapbooker just came out & one of my layouts was picked up this issue!! YAY!!

This is my second publication - which was big for me because it means the first time wasn't a fluke!  Ha ha!  My layout shares a page with the artwork of Cari Locken, Jill Sarginson, and Kelly Klapstein - - all amazing Canadian scrappers!!  So exciting!
My layout

My name in print - that will never get old!

A close up of the layout - - riding the tractor with Grampa is a favourite summer past-time of both my kids.   The left side of the page was stamped using the CTMH stamp set "Two-Step Backgrounds".  The sketch is from Page Maps book.  Paper packs used were CTMH Splendour and Animal Cookies (both retired).  Circles and scalloped circles cut with CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.  Buttons & floss, alphabet stickers all CTMH.

Thanks for sharing my excitement!!  Be sure to pick up the summer issue of Canadian Scrapbooker - lots of great inspiration to be had!

Teacher Thank You's & Countdown to Convention

My son recently finished his first year of preschool.   When he started, I wasn't sure he was ready.  But the year went really well and I attribute that largely to the great teachers he had (2 of the 3 teachers also taught my daughter when she was in preschool, so we know them well!).   I made these cute cards, inspired by Silke Shimazu (although, I can no longer find the exact card on her blog that had given me the inspiration for this one, I am sure it was hers!), to include with their year end gifts.

Easy peasy to make - the apples were cut with my Cricut and the sentiment was stamped underneath!

The countdown is on . . . just 3 more days until CTMH's annual convention!! The celebration this year is in Anaheim and I've been here for a few days already, enjoying all that Southern California has to offer!   I'll be attending the Leadership portion of the events on Wednesday and will be back here with any news then!!  Can't wait!  So much to look forward to this week!

Hope you'll pop on over to this week's challenge to check out the fabulous inspiration from the Design Team and to play along!  You have until June 29th to link up your entry  - - can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Splendor WOTG projects!

Love the summery, happy feel of the Splendor paper!  I used the Splendor Workshop on the Go Kit to create this layout (which also qualifies for the challenge over at Sharing Memories Scrapbooking today which is to scrapbook some pics from your favourite vacation EVER!!)  It was easy to adapt the layout design for my purposes.  The pattern calls for one large photo on the left page - I used four smaller ones instead.

Materials Used (all Close to My Heart):
Splendor Workshop on the Go Kit (WOTG) - including Splendor Level 2 Paper Pack, Irresistibles Pizzazz Chipboard, and an exclusive workshop kit stamp set (as well as the instructional brochure which contains the pattern/design for this layout!).
Cardstock: Colonial White & Goldrush (both included in Splendor paper pack)
Ink: Chocolate, Topiary, Goldrush, Sunflower

I also made this cute card using the workshop kit and the supplies listed above:

CTMH SpiderMan Layout

My friend & Calgary Crops colleague, Noreen, is hosting a Summer Scrap-a-thon at her website "Sharing Memories Scrapbooking" that started today!  A new challenge each week to keep you scrapping all summer (and there will be prizes too!).  Come join the fun!!

She posted the first challenge today which was to scrap a layout using pics from LAST summer!  I flipped through my 2009 summer photos and was inspired to scrap this 'fave' photo!!   This is my mischevious little boy, climbing the outside wall of our house using the garden hose . . . little did he know Mom was watching (with camera in hand!!)

Sketch is #109 from Creative Scrappers.

Materials Used (All Close to My Heart, except as noted):
