Mom & Dad

We have a brand new song on the playlist today at Scrap it with a Song.  We are continuing our review of 2012 favourites and have picked the song "Some Nights" by fun.    I pulled some lyrics from the song as my layout inspiration.

My layout:

I made this rosette embellishment by punching a circle of cardstock, then covering it with adhesive.  I then simply rolled my ribbon around in circles, adhering it to the cardstock circle & twisting while I went along.   I finished it off with a brad centre.

Layout design is a January sketch from the Scrap Much blog.

Look at me busting my stash using up a whole lot of retired goodies!  Yay me!!  (Still making room for the boatload of new Spring/Summer 2013 CTMH product I have ordered!!)

Materials Used:

Mom

My layout today is all about my Mom!!  Our new playlist song this week at Scrap it with a Song is the very beautiful "For Good" from the Broadway musical "Wicked".  The song lyrics inspired my journalling on this layout.

"I know I am who I am today because of you . . . so much of me is made from what I learned from you."

My Mom is truly the best and she is my role model as far as what kind of mom I want to be to my kids & these song lyrics convey that perfectly.

The sketch is from Once Upon a Sketch and their journalling theme this month was "Mum".

Materials Used:
CTMH paper - Passages, Mayberry (retired)

CTMH Christmas Card Extravaganza!

I've been super busy planning and creating in preparation for this year's Christmas Card workshops!
Here are the results:

A great selection of holiday cards!  Some are cased from fellow CTMH consultants, some are inspired by CTMH Idea Book artwork, others are designed by me!  Lots of variety, something for everyone!  Different techniques on every card!

I will be running a series of "Christmas Card Extravaganza" workshops at my home in Calgary in late November and early December!  Work at your own pace - make as many cards as you want, and you pick the designs you want!

Convention Swap Items Part #3

A few more of my favourite swaps received at the recent CTMH convention:

A very cute scenic card by an unknown consultant (it is hard to tell in the photo, but the rising balloons are each 'popped' out a little bit higher, giving them the appearance of flying right off the card!  Love it!):
A cute water bottle tag using Veranda, by another unknown consultant:

I love the black & white with a 'pop' of color on this next card (by yet another unknown consultant):

A fabulous Cherry-O creation from Linda Case:

Here is a gorgeous Passages card made by Linda Black:

Fantastic little accordian flower card by Laura Petruso using the recently retired Twitterpated:

I love the bright colors on this great card by Kelly Waterman:

And finally, another very cute Cherry-O card from Patty Smith:

So many creative ideas out there!!

Remembering my Granny

Scrapbooking has always been theraputic for me and nothing relieves my stress quicker than spending a few hours in my craft room.  So when I got the call on Saturday that my Granny had passed away - in my sadness I was drawn to my scrapbooks & I immediately went digging in my photo albums for some pictures of her to work with.  In creating these pages, I wanted to pay tribute to this amazing woman and to collect all of my immediate thoughts and memories of her at that moment & to preserve them for my kids and future generations.  Although it is difficult to say goodbye - I know that our memories of her will live on (both in our hearts and our scrapbooks!)

For my first layout, I used this week's sketch from Liz's Sketch Blook:
And for the second layout, I was inspired by this week's sketch from Pencil Lines:

Materials Used (all Close to My Heart, except where noted):
Passages Level 2 Paper Pack
Stickease from Passages Level 1 Scrapbooking Kit
Hinges from Pewter Mini Medley Accents
Cocoa Ribbon
Foundry Tabs
Other:  Pewter decorative brads from my stash, Flourish rub-on from "My Minds Eye"
Cardstock: Barn Red, Bamboo
Ink: Cocoa

Thanks for stopping in today.  I hope that these layouts have inspired you to scrapbook your memories of a loved one who is no longer with you, but still lives in your heart.
